iwonder? asked:

I have a DVD Player/recorder that I just bought and now I see Blu-ray is going to take over. Can I play a Blu-ray disc in my regular DVD player??? Or will I have to buy a new player?

A1234 asked:

I’m wondering if the PS3s built in Bluray player will deliver the same picture quality as the regular (DVD player style) bluray player. I realize that they are both bluray players but picture quality can be impacted by the electronics etc. I have a hard time believing that the PS3 can deliver the same quality as the deck style player – if it could why would the deck style player cost more and do less?

Fred asked:

What is the diiference between the new BluRay DVD’s and the standard DVD? I am under the assumption BluRay’s picture is much better. Do I need a new DVD player to play the BluRay or will my standard DVD player do the trick?

Some Guy asked:

I remember when I had a PS2 that the DVD playback was substandard compared to a dedicated DVD player. So, is the PS3 a substandard Bluray and DVD player compared to dedicated Bluray and DVD players?

jared c asked:

I have been contemplating on buying a blu ray player and I can’t decide whether to buy a normal blu ray player or a PS3, now I had a PS2 and the dvd player on there was absolultely terrible, and I’m wondering if the blu ray player on PS3 is as good as the stand alone players…

ucla54 asked:

Do blu-ray players automatically up-convert standard dvds? or do I need to look for a DVD player that up-converts as well?
So otherwise, does a blue-ray player have the same functionality that an up-covert dvd player has?
