I have a DVD Player/recorder that I just bought and now I see Blu-ray is going to take over. Can I play a Blu-ray disc in my regular DVD player??? Or will I have to buy a new player?

I realize that they are both bluray players but picture quality can be impacted by the electronics etc. I have a hard time believing that the PS3 can deliver the same quality as the deck style player – if it could why would the deck style player cost more and do less?

I remember when I had a PS2 that the DVD playback was substandard compared to a dedicated DVD player. So, is the PS3 a substandard Bluray and DVD player compared to dedicated Bluray and DVD players?
