Does it require a different player to access it? Or can we use our old DVD or VCD players? What is Blu-Ray anyways?

blu-ray is a high definition dvd, and it can hold more data, and yes you do need a special kind of player to use it

Blu-Ray is a new disc which can store a lot more information than DVD. It is mainly used to store high definition films and games which take up more space than a DVD can hold.
If you dont own a high definition television then there is little point in investing in one yet, your DVD player will do the job fine.
The discs can only be played in blue ray players and dont work in older DVD or VCD players.

If you are considering getting Blu-Ray, get a PS3. It costs about $50 more than a standard Blu-Ray player, but can also play games, obviously. Games are supposed to be very realistic.
Blu-Ray works best with newer LCD and Plasma screens, but will also work just fine with a standard tv too.
Blu-Ray will replace DVD’s lke DVD’s replaced Video Cassettes.

Blu ray has 5 times the capcity of a regular dvd. If you don’t have a hdtv then there is no point in buying one. Blu ray is 1080p and standard definition is only 480p. you have to have a blu ray player for watching them
