That One Dude asked:

My TV goes up to 1080P, and I have my PS3 set to play at 1080p, and I have it connected with componant cables. I just can’t get my Bluray disks to play at 1080p, instead they play 1080i. Hep me understand this.

You can’t output 1080p through component cables. Partly because of bandwidth, but also because the industry says so. 1080p (TrueHD) must be output through HDMI, and encrypted with HDCP. The best you can get with component is 1080i.

The good news is you can get an HDMI cable for cheap, about $5. There are people who say you need an expensive one, but all you really need is one that is well made.

Component cables can carry 1080p signal, however, some TVs do not support 1080p signal on the component cable. Check your TV manual or use HDMI cable.

component cables don’t output 1080P, which is your problem

you are going to have to buy an HDMI cable for the PS3 to be able to output 1080p
