Sanjay asked:

If you put a regular DVD in a blu ray player, will it increase the quality of the regular DVD. Also, will it even play? How much better is blu ray than regular DVDs?

If you put a regular DVD in a blu ray player, it should upconvert the DVD to 1080p. Blu ray combined with a compatible (720p or optimum 1080p) HDTV is definitely better definition.

The Blue-Ray player would actually “up convert” or interpolate the missing lines/information from the old DVD’s. Blu-Ray players are backward compatible, so your old DVD5 and DVD9 are still good. Just a small suggestion, if you are considering a Blu-Ray player, might want to just go ahead and get a PS3 since it’s a player plus a lot more….
