blue ray is just one of the HD formats and you would need to have a HD TV for it to work

You don’t NEED a HDTV to watch Blu-ray movies…. but it would be best, HDTV makes a big difference.

Technically you don’t need an hdtv to watch blu-ray movies, but I would highly recommend it since picture wise you wouldn’t notice a difference without one.

To achieve FULL hd. you need a media player that will play 1080p (bluray,hd dvd) you need a 1080p tv and the two should be connected with a wire capable of transmitting 1080p such as an hdmi wire rated 1080p or higher. It is still pretty good on a 1080I tv, but i wouldnt go lower than that……it would be a waste of money. and for the doubters……wires DO make a difference….dont use composite or component when you can go HDMI.
