jerseyj01 asked:

I really do not want the ps3 for ANY type of gaming but i notice the pricetag is similar to other blu ray players and sometimes even cheaper. Are there any differences in picture/video quality between the ps3 and a sony/sharp/panny blu ray player?? Can someone enlighten me please.

Get a dedicated blu-ray player, even if it costs a few more $$.
The PS3 does many things ok but not a single thing great.

Coming from someone that has a PS3, I would buy the player, even if you don’t plan on playing games right now, the PS3 does everything and more that a Blu-Ray player does, is less expensive, and STILL plays games! It’s the better deal.

Get the PS3. There is NO difference in picture quality. The PS3 lacks the ability to decode one type of audio (I forget which). Other than that its a fantastic Blu-ray player that gets updated regularly. You can also download free 1080p movie trailers from Sony’s online store. Just think that you’re getting the game system for free!
